
The African Women in Energy Regulation – Leadership Program (AWER-LP) is a pioneering initiative that equips African women professionals with the technical expertise and leadership skills to thrive in energy regulation.
Running from November 14 to 28, 2025, the program combines online learning with an intensive in-person experience in Accra. Participants will explore critical regulatory themes, strengthen their leadership voice, and join a growing community of women shaping Africa’s energy future.
AWER-LP is a two-week hybrid program that combines online learning with an intensive in-person training in Accra, Ghana.
The program develops both technical expertise and leadership capacity, preparing African women to thrive in male-dominated spaces, shape regulatory reforms, and contribute to a sustainable energy future.
Participants will join a transformative journey of workshops, mentorship, peer collaboration, and a site visit, supported by a fully funded package that removes barriers to participation.

Online Phase
The first week combines instructor-led sessions with self-paced study. Participants will engage in live classes, case discussions, and interactive webinars while building foundational knowledge. Learning materials remain accessible on the Learning Management System (LMS) for one month after the course, giving participants flexibility to revisit and deepen their understanding.
In-Person Phase – Accra, Ghana
The second week offers a fully immersive experience at the African School of Regulation headquarters. Participants will take part in hands-on workshops, mentorship circles, and peer learning groups, all designed to translate theory into practice. They will also benefit from site visits to regulatory institutions, networking opportunities with senior experts, and a dynamic learning environment that brings together women leaders from across Africa.

AWER-LP is an immersive program that requires commitment and active engagement. Participants are expected to:
- Attend and participate fully in both the online and in-person phases
- Engage actively in discussions, workshops, and mentorship sessions
- Collaborate with peers and contribute to group learning
- Complete assignments, case studies, and reflections during the program
- Serve as ambassadors of inclusive, gender-transformative regulation in their professional communities after the program
