The African School of Regulation (ASR) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Abdulkadir Shettima as its new Director. Dr. Shettima brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in energy regulation and policy development, positioning ASR to further its mission of fostering sound regulatory approaches to present challenges in the energy sector of African countries.

Dr. Shettima’s distinguished career includes significant leadership roles at the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), where he contributed to key regulatory reforms and initiatives that have shaped the energy landscape in Nigeria. His expertise spans energy economics, regulatory frameworks, and strategic leadership.

He holds a PhD in Energy Economics from the University of Buckingham, UK (2024), an MBA in Banking & Finance from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria (1997), and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Accountancy from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria (1988).

Dr. Shettima’s appointment marks a significant step forward for ASR as we continue to strengthen our position as a global leader in energy regulation. His leadership will be instrumental in advancing ASR’s strategic priorities, enhancing its impact, and supporting Africa’s energy sector development.
