On August 4th, 2023, the ASR Talk on “Powering Progress: The Role of Regulation in Fast-Tracking Electricity Access” took center stage. During this dynamic session, we immersed ourselves in the regulatory frameworks of Uganda, which have significantly expedited electricity access. Our distinguished Guest Speaker, ENG. Ziria Tibalwa Waako added valuable insights to the discussion.
The event allowed us to explore the regulatory landscapes in Uganda, which has occupied the top position since the inception of the Electricity Regulation Index by the African Development Bank in 2018 and maintained its prime standing in 2022. The interplay between utility providers and forward-thinking regulators showcased a positive response and regulatory prowess.
