Applications Now Open for Women Energy Regulators in Africa

The African School of Regulation (ASR), with support from GET.transform, is offering twenty (20) scholarships to support participation in the online component of the Power Sector Regulation in Africa (PSRA) course.
To ensure that the learning outcomes directly strengthen regulatory practice on the continent, these scholarships are exclusively reserved for women staff of energy regulatory authorities in Africa.
In addition, the ten best performing participants in the online course will be awarded full scholarships for the in-person component of the programme, including travel and accommodation to Accra, where the residential session will be held.

Who Should Apply?

These scholarships are intended for women professionals currently employed by African energy regulatory institutions who are involved in the design, implementation, or oversight of energy regulation.
The objective of the scholarship programme is to strengthen institutional regulatory capacity and ensure that the knowledge gained through the course is applied within the organisations responsible for shaping and enforcing energy regulation across Africa.

Scholarship coverage

The scholarship programme is structured in two stages:
Online course scholarships
•Twenty scholarships covering full participation in the online component of the course.
In-person course scholarships
•The ten best performing participants in the online course will be selected for the in-person component.
•This scholarship covers travel, accommodation, and participation in the residential session in Accra.

Eligibility Criteria


To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of an African country.
  • Be currently employed by an energy regulatory authority in Africa.
  • Have a background in energy regulation or a closely related field.
  • Hold a master’s degree with at least three years of relevant professional experience, or a bachelor’s degree with at least five years of experience
  • Demonstrate financial need and a commitment to applying the knowledge gained within their regulatory institution.
  • Commit to full participation in the online program, including live sessions, online discussions, assignments, and the final report.

  • Financial need.


Selection for the in-person scholarship will be based on performance during the online course.
