The African School of Regulation (ASR), in collaboration with the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Energy for Growth Hub, hosted a webinar examining how Power Purchase Agreements can support Africa’s clean energy transition and attract sustainable investment.
The session explored the structure and essential components of PPAs, the role of regulatory oversight, and approaches to managing liquidity risks, tariff misalignment and stranded capacity.
Discussions also drew on international practices in competitive procurement and renewable energy integration, considering how these approaches could strengthen PPA frameworks across African electricity markets.
