ASR/AFUR Webinar Series
The African School of Regulation (ASR), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR) hosted a webinar exploring how credible and transparent regulatory frameworks can attract financing, reduce investment risks and support sustainable energy development across Africa.
The session examined key elements of effective regulation, including tariff design, regulatory independence, governance, and enforcement. Discussions considered how these elements can strengthen investor confidence while safeguarding utility financial sustainability and consumer interests.
Drawing on lessons from regulatory reforms across Africa and beyond, the webinar explored approaches to enabling private sector participation and adapting regulation to emerging technologies and the energy transition.
