It explained how both compliance and voluntary carbon markets worked and how renewable energy producers in Africa could earn revenue by selling carbon credits from emissions reductions. By highlighting opportunities in solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal energy, the webinar helped policymakers, developers, and sustainability professionals understand how to access carbon finance and benefit from the growing global demand for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The session also explored the main factors that enabled or limited participation in carbon markets across the continent. These included the need for clear regulations, strong monitoring and reporting systems, and fair benefit-sharing practices. Challenges such as high project costs, limited market access, and policy uncertainty were addressed, alongside new initiatives such as national carbon registries and the African Gold Standard.
