Webinar: Electrification of Healthcare Facilities in Africa

ASR WEBINAR

The African School of Regulation, in collaboration with Sustainable Energy for All, hosted an online webinar examining the essential steps needed to electrify healthcare facilities across Africa.

The conference explored regulatory interventions, business models and financing strategies to deliver sustainable and reliable electricity, improve healthcare services and advance Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Contexte

Reliable electricity is essential for safe and effective healthcare, supporting medical procedures, diagnostic equipment and the storage of medicines. Yet many healthcare facilities across sub-Saharan Africa face unreliable power supplies or have no electricity access.

Building on an earlier dialogue on electricity access and healthcare in sub-Saharan Africa, the conference brought together international experts, policymakers and stakeholders to examine these challenges and identify practical approaches to addressing them.

Conference themes

  • Day 1 — The Present Situation: Experiences and Challenges: Understanding existing conditions and barriers to reliable electricity access.
  • Day 2 — Surmounting the Challenges: Exploring regulatory, business and financing approaches.
  • Day 3 — Looking Ahead and Innovating Together: Considering innovative solutions and opportunities for collaboration.
