SUMMARY:Electricity Access and Healthcare in Sub-Saharan Africa: An Initial Conversation
DESCRIPTION:About the event\n\n\n\nThis event will explore the critical link between reliable electricity access and effective healthcare delivery in Sub-Saharan Africa. An estimated 100\,000 health facilities lack dependable electricity\, hindering basic services like lighting\, medical equipment operation\, and vaccine and medication storage. The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the urgency of addressing this challenge. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a conversation exploring findings from the recent Sustainable Energy for All (SEforAll) report\, “State of the Market Report for Healthcare Facility Electrification.” We’ll delve into current trends\, challenges\, and lessons learned\, along with financing and investment needs. We’ll also discuss implemented business models\, their suitability\, and suggested regulatory interventions for financial sustainability. \n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeaker: \n\n\n\n\nLuc Severi – Programme Manager\, Powering Healthcare\, Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL)\n\n\n\n\nModerator: \n\n\n\n\nLouise Mathu – Regulatory Expert\, African School of Regulation (ASR)
