The resolution, adopted by the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA), approves the Regional Electricity Transmission Tariff Application Procedure (RETTAP), establishing the operational framework for implementing the Regional Transmission Tariff Methodology (RTTM) within the West African Regional Electricity Market.
The procedure aims to ensure transparent, predictable and consistent application of regional transmission tariffs, facilitating cross-border electricity trade and supporting the financial sustainability of transmission infrastructure.
It addresses three principal areas: recovery of electricity transmission costs, determination and allocation of transmission losses, and collection and distribution of transmission revenues among transmission grid operators.
The Regional System and Market Operator is responsible for implementing the procedure under ERERA’s supervision, in accordance with the Regional Electricity Market Codes.
The resolution entered into force on 19 March 2026 and represents an important regulatory step towards harmonising transmission pricing and strengthening regional electricity market integration in West Africa.
